Herbal Tea Chains

Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Lori Weidehammer led us in a herbal tea chain workshop where participants learned to identify health-giving herbs, dried fruits and spices. While enjoying the pleasure of each others company, community members created herbal tea chains to take home to make their own infusions.

Cultivating Connections: Trellis making

Sweets peas now have a place to flourish around the community trellis in the Cultural Herb Garden.

The trellis gets filled in and a small woven fence is constructed.

We intergrated the woven circle that were made at the South Hill Street festival in late May.

Stakes were pounded into the ground with David's hand made tools.

Community members 'filled' in the areas with a weaving techinque
David began the process by creating one adult sized sstructure, then a young community memeber suggested we need a child sized one-as well!

Here, Sharon is working with a seven yearold community member to fashion the all important 'stake' which is the foundation of each part. On the summer solstice, artist, David Gowman and Sharon Kallis led community members in a trellis-making process with green waste from our vancouver park land. Community members of all ages assisted with the design & construction which resulted in a new component to the cultural herb garden.
